The election of 2004 is, among many things, an election of acceptance vs. homophobia. How do candidates stack up against each other on gay rights?
GAY MARRIAGE:
Bush: Supports a constitutional ammendment to ban gay marriage; equated homosexuality with sin when he partially quoted the bible "I caution you to remove the splinter in your niehbors eye when you have a log in your own."
Kerry: Says that gay marriage should be a states issue and favors the states deciding on their own the definition of marriage.
GAYS IN THE MILLITARY:
Bush: Against allowing any gays in the millitary, against "Dont ask, dont tell"
Kerry: For FULL acceptance of gays in the millitary and abandoning "Dont ask, dont tell"
GAY ADOPTION:
Bush: Does not support Gay adoption of young children
Kerry: For full gay adoption rights
GAY BASHING: HATE CRIME?
According to Bush: No
According to Kerry: Yes
SHOULD IT BE ILLEGAL TO FIRE AND HIRE BASED ON SEXUALITY?
According to Bush: No
According to Kerry: "Absolutely!"
I think that we know which candidate is going to help America take steps for equality for homosexuals. Please vote for Kerry/Edwards this november. If you want to help out, you can go to www.johnkerry.com . If you arent 18 yet, this is a great way to make your impact on the fate of the nation.

You can send emails to newspapers and learn when rallies are going to be and send people online information about registering to vote...
Speaking of that, if you arent registered and you are a democrat, i can give you teh forms to register to vote online. Email me for them.
Its important that Kerry wins because we cant have 4 more years of homophobic Bush.

Hello and this is my first entry.
So I'm going to try to tell who I am . . .

I'm very tolerant of people unless they piss me off by being A.) Immature, B.) Hypocritical or C.)All of the above.
It amazes me how people were up in arms when the girl I liked was kissing her girlfriend(who later became my friend) but they had no problem with a heterosexual couple kissing like there was no tommorrow with tongues in the lunch room. *Eyeroll* Same people say God hates homosexuality, yet they also forgot that the bible mentioned fornication and a bunch of other things which I know they've been doing. *Things I hear when people forget I'm in the room.*
I came out to my parents & friends when I was a sophomore in high school. My mom is okay for the most part with me being bi, my sister found out when mom told her, and my dad says that he loves me no matter what.
I have gay, bi and straight friends.After I came out, other friends told me they were too. It sucks that High School's gonna end I'll have to start over with friends once I get into College.

Hello all, I just joined! ^.^ My name is Elizabeth... and anything else you need to know you can just look on my information page, n_n Well, I'd like to say that prejudice towards gays annoys me to no end. First of all, it's just ignorant, and, in most cases -- immature. I'm tired of the normal reactions to gays or bisexuals in kids my age: "Eww!" The fact is; people are attracted to whoever they're attracted to, and that's something that they really don't have a lot of control over. No matter what gender it is. Attraction kind of just... happens. And that's the way I see it. People shouldn't hate gays and bisexuals. Just because of their sexual preference DOES NOT mean they aren't nice people. To restate my previous statement: being a homophobe is.. well, stupid.
Well, now that I've gotten that out.. ^.^
I believe if guys can think that lesbians are sexy, girls can think gay guys are sexy! ^^" I would like to request some pictures of guys kissing. Or links to where I could find some? ^_^ Thank you! :)

Hi.
I just joined this community, but i'm not really sure if i ...um....should?
I'm a straight guy, but many people say that i act gay and sometimes when i tell people i am straight for some reason they dotn believe me. :(. Anyway, its VERY hard for me to get dates as all women i meet want guys to be powerful, charming , and confident and manly....i'm not really any of those things, nor do i really want to be. Its also hard for me to make friends because most guys i meet wont make friends with non-macho guys.
So....would this be a place for me? Or should i look for a different community?

i originally wrote this in my journal but all of my friends think more people need to hear it. they are sending it out in emails to their friends who are gay/bi and i thought i would post it here to cause i honestly believe this.
"Niles told a story on his journal of when he first became aware of gay couples. i thought to myself, i don't know when i had, but i probably didn't understand what was giong on, that's for sure. then i thought about it, my parents didn't show me because my dad is catholic and has certain beliefs. well i have come to the conclusion that the only thing we should teach our children is that the two biggest wrongs are hate and ignorance. i don't care if you don't believe in the union of two people of the same gender, teach your child not to hate, make them not ignorant. i dont care if you don't agree with a black man and a white woman marrying, teach your child not to hate, make them not ignorant. i don't care if you don't like the people of middle eastern descent, teach your child not to hate, make them not ignorant. the only reason why there are so many wars and so many people fighting is because of the hate and ignorance. it is not my fault that i was born here and am who i am. it is not my dads fault he was born here and is who he is. God put us here for a reason, otherwise i could be a child of Iraq. but i do know that i was put here and i must accomplish something and i have choices to make. my dad chose not to teach me about gay couples, he does think it's wrong, he has somehow indirectly tried to instill hate. i'm going to change that. i know when i have children i will make sure thye are not ignorant about the world around them and i will make sure they don't have the word hate in their vocabulary."
